Volunteer
Vol. I · § Give time
Our volunteers run our drop-in surgeries, befriend isolated borrowers, mentor on household finance, and sit on our Board. None of these roles require previous charity-sector experience — only attentiveness, reliability, and time.
§ I · Current roles
01

London office (Holborn) — hybrid possible after first month
Sit alongside experienced caseworkers as they read applications, verify uploaded documents and make repayment-plan decisions. Excellent route into UK welfare-rights work and a sector-recognised reference.
No formal qualification needed. Trauma-informed practice training provided. DBS check arranged at our cost.
02
2 hours per week, flexible
From home, anywhere in the UK
Phone-based check-ins with isolated borrowers who have asked for a regular friendly call. Many of our elderly applicants live alone and value the contact more than the financial help itself.

03
3–4 hours per month
Mixed: drop-in surgeries, online, occasional home visits
Walk applicants through household budgeting, benefit entitlements, and bank-account management. Works alongside (not instead of) free debt-advice partners.
Background in finance, advice work, or personal experience with effective household budgeting. Money & Pensions Service induction provided.
04
Case-by-case
Remote / your office
We are always looking for solicitors, accountants, HR professionals, designers, copyeditors, and translators willing to take occasional pro-bono cases. Most assignments are 2–6 hours; we agree scope and deadline upfront.
A relevant professional qualification, current insurance where applicable. Email us with the area you can offer.
05
Approximately 1 day per month, plus 4 board meetings a year
London (some meetings remote)
Trustees are jointly responsible for the strategic direction and governance of Unity Relief UK. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of UK hardship, lawyers, accountants, and senior public-sector practitioners.
An open application window runs every February. Independent trustee recruitment is supported by Reach Volunteering.
