Payroll giving
Vol. I · § Give from your wage
The simplest, most cost-effective
way of giving in the UK.
Payroll Giving lets your donation leave your wage before tax, which means £10 to us costs as little as £6 to you. There is no Gift Aid form, no annual reconciliation — just a quiet, regular gift that arrives every payday.
§ I · Four steps
Set it up in fifteen minutes.
Then forget about it.
01
Ask your employer if they run a Payroll Giving scheme
Most large UK employers do. The scheme is usually run through one of three HMRC-approved agencies: Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), Charitable Giving, or the Payroll Giving Agency.
02
Nominate Unity Relief UK
Use our charity registration number 1199482 (England & Wales) or SC051427 (Scotland). Choose any monthly amount — there is no minimum and no maximum.
03
The amount is taken before tax
Your employer's payroll deducts the gift before calculating Income Tax, so the cost to you is less than the amount we receive. £10 to us costs you £8 (basic-rate) or £6 (higher-rate).
04
Many employers match
Roughly half of UK employers with a Payroll Giving scheme match donations — sometimes pound-for-pound. Always worth asking your HR team.
§ II · What it costs you
Gift size,
after tax.
Figures are illustrative based on 2025/26 UK Income Tax bands. Your exact saving depends on your income, tax code and any Scottish-specific rates.
| Gift to us | Basic (20%) | Higher (40%) | Additional (45%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| £10 | £8.00 | £6.00 | £5.50 |
| £20 | £16.00 | £12.00 | £11.00 |

| £100 | £80.00 | £60.00 | £55.00 |
