Terms of use

Short, plain-English,
deliberately fair.

These are the terms governing how you use this website. They are not a long legal document and we did not enjoy reading the ones we benchmarked against — so we wrote ours short.

§ I

About these terms

These terms govern your use of this website, unityrelief.org.uk, operated by Unity Relief UK (registered charity 1199482 in England and Wales, SC051427 in Scotland; company number 14589321; registered office 4th Floor, 25 Greville Street, Holborn, London EC1N 8SQ).

They are written in plain English, kept deliberately short, and are designed to be fair. By using this website you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

These terms do not govern your loan or grant agreement with us if you are an applicant — those have their own specific written contracts. Nor do they govern your donor relationship with us beyond website use — that is covered by our Privacy Notice.

§ II

What you can do

You may browse, read, share, and print any page on this site for personal, non-commercial use, and for your work as an existing or prospective partner organisation.

You may quote short extracts of our written content with attribution. You may use the link 'unityrelief.org.uk' freely in any context.

You may not republish substantial sections of our content, frame our pages in another website, scrape the site, or use our materials in any commercial product without our written permission.

§ III

Trademarks & content

'Unity Relief', 'Unity Relief UK', the U colophon mark, and the visual identity of this site are our property. Our written content is © Unity Relief UK except where otherwise marked.

We publish some specific materials under permissive open licences — these are clearly marked on the page concerned (for example, our model partner referral form is published under CC BY 4.0, and our internal lending ledger software is open-sourced under AGPL).

§ IV

Accuracy of information

We take care to keep this site accurate. Figures shown in calculators, donation cost-tables, and the impact report are illustrative or based on the most recent audited data, as labelled on each page.

Where we link to external organisations (StepChange, Citizens Advice, ICO, etc.) we are not responsible for the content of those sites. We link to them because we believe they are useful — not because we endorse every aspect of them.

§ V

If something is wrong

If you find a factual error or broken link, please email accessibility@unityrelief.org.uk and we will fix it as soon as we can. Most issues are resolved within two working days.

If you have a complaint about how we have treated you, please see our Complaints page for the formal process.

§ VI

Liability

We do everything we reasonably can to keep this site available and free of malware. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we accept no liability for loss arising from temporary unavailability or for the consequences of relying on the calculator outputs (which are clearly labelled as illustrative). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited under English law.

No part of this site constitutes financial, legal, or tax advice. If you are making a financial decision, please consult a qualified adviser or use one of the free, independent debt-advice services listed in our footer.

§ VII

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from your use of this site — though we would always rather resolve a disagreement through conversation than through the courts.

§ VIII

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that materially affects your rights or obligations, we will update the date at the top of this page and post a brief note on our news page. Minor edits (typo fixes, link updates) happen continuously and are not separately announced.

Questions or concerns

If anything on this page is unclear, or you would like us to act on it, please get in touch.
